Jimmy Sails World

Well life is very hot at the moment so sleeping is not easy, combined with still getting into the watch pattern life is quite tough but enjoyable for most of it (3am till 7am watch not fun!!) the flying fish are awesome and so many (I think there are at least two species that we have seen.) This brings me on to Dave's (our other watch leader) fishing. Well he caught one little mackerel but the boat has caught at least 5 flying fish and two squid!!! Dave needs fishing lessons we think!!
We have created an air scoop to try and funnel air below and it seems to be working good so far. I am about to go wild and use our Solar shower for the first time, Having showered for the last time 6 days ago and since then have not stopped sweating I need it. It is basic and hung on the deck of the boat so no nudity!! but it is warm so I am told, not that I care at the moment its so hot! I will get back to you on the shower performance!

We are about 3-4 days away from the dreaded Doldrums and are constantly checking the weather reports to look for the best places to cross. If nothing else it may give me some time to read my book, not even had time to open it yet. Have had some great days and nights ploughing across the Atlantic with the stereo blasting out music (no one to complain or disturb out here, except for the masses of flying fish and dolphins! Its very cool!!

Im on mother watch tomorrow so after a long day of cooking on the move 8 hours sleep!!! I cant wait!!!!

As far as the race goes we would hope to be better placed but every time we seem to make gains the next report shows we have lost again, we are working hard and we will improve, dont give up on the Dragon just yet!
well shower time for me, I will be in touch soon

You guys are doing brilliantly. You have picked up your pace and are currently at 4th place - which is amazing as I'm sure David has had 180lb tuna dangling off the end of his lure!!!!!
After 12 years with David, believe me, he knows what he's talking about with the fish. THEY WILL COME. He will soon sicken you all with his gutting etc. but you will have an amazing feed before he is through!
Love to you all - and remember to give him a cuddle from me the next time you swap watches.
Love Pauline xx

Hey Jimney!!!
Me and Sel have been avidly following your progress (and laughing a little when you seemed to be going backwards - it was always going to happen to you!).
As we've been watching how you get on we've been worrying about the heat situation, and having seen your last post I'm now even more worried about everyone else having to deal with the sweating!!! Hahah
Good luck with it and keep going!! Ps. sending out my wedding invitations ust don't know where yours should be addressed to? James Holding, Atlantic Ocean?? Lots of love xxx

Its like Jim Kirk but without the star dates and I'm not the captain!

Well here is where you can get to find out a little more about how I'm getting on in my quest for adventure.

I aim to keep you posted on my training (both how I cope with learning to sail and how I am getting into shape for the race), How I am doing with regards to funding and how much money I have raised for good causes.

I intend on this to be a journal of everything connected to this epic adventure, so at times it may be funny, sometimes full of grumbles and sometimes down right crazy! but I hope at all times it will reflect my experiences and feelings at the time.

    So watch this space!!!
